The Pentair 400023Z is an OEM impeller assembly used in select Pentair WhisperFloXF and Sta-Rite Max-E-ProXF high-flow pool pumps. This is the XF-20 (5 HP) impeller used to move water through the pump by transferring motor energy into flow and pressure. Replace the impeller if it’s cracked, worn, clogged, or damaged from debris, cavitation, or seal failure.

Tip: WhisperFloXF pumps use different impellers by pump size (XFET-8, XFET-12, XFET-20, etc.). Confirm your pump model and parts diagram before ordering.
Common Symptoms of a Bad Impeller
- Low flow / weak circulation even with a clean filter and clear baskets
- Difficulty priming or frequent loss of prime
- Unusual grinding, rattling, or vibration from the wet end
- Reduced filter pressure compared to normal operation
- Debris ingestion causing broken vanes or a jammed impeller
Installation Notes
- Turn off power at the breaker and close valves before opening the pump.
- Inspect the diffuser, seal plate, and wear surfaces for damage while the pump is apart.
- Replace the mechanical shaft seal whenever the impeller is removed to help prevent leaks.
- After reassembly, prime the pump fully and check for leaks at the seal plate and unions.
- Pump service should be performed by a qualified pool professional if you are not comfortable working on motor-driven equipment.

Maintenance Tips
- Keep baskets and the filter clean—restricted flow can cause overheating and premature wear on pump components.

Return Policy:
- Products that are received damaged will receive a refund in store credit.
- Most products are eligible for return within 30 days of receipt, except where noted below.
- To initiate a return, please complete an RMA form prior to sending your item back.
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
- Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
- Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
- We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.

- Opened seals and o-rings are not eligible for return.

- Automation components and circuit boards are not eligible for return.
- If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
- Orders refused at the time of delivery will be subject to the original shipping costs being deducted from the refund.
