Hayward DEX4820BTC Filter Head with Clamp System (Upper Tank Body) for Pro-Grid DE4820 & SwimClear C4020/C4025/C4030

The Hayward DEX4820BTC is a complete OEM upper filter body (filter head) with clamp system used on select Hayward Pro-Grid vertical grid D.E. filters and SwimClear cartridge filters. It replaces the entire top half assembly when the original head is cracked, warped, leaking at the clamp seam, or no longer seals reliably.

Installation Notes

  • Turn off the pump and fully relieve filter pressure at the air relief before loosening the clamp.
  • Clean the tank flange and sealing surfaces thoroughly—grit is a common cause of clamp seam leaks.
  • Seat the seal evenly and tighten the clamp uniformly per the filter’s instructions.
  • After restart, bleed air until a steady stream of water flows, then inspect the clamp seam for seepage.

Maintenance Tips

  • Never loosen the clamp while the filter is under pressure—always shut off the pump and bleed air first.
  • Lightly lubricate the tank seal with silicone-based pool lubricant to reduce pinching and improve sealing.
  • Keep the clamp band clean and inspect it for cracks or stretching during seasonal service.
  • If seam leaks persist after reseating, inspect both tank flanges for warping or damage rather than overtightening the clamp.

Return Policy:

  • All products, except as noted below, are eligible for return up to 30 days after receipt of item.
  • For returns, an RMA form must be filled out HERE or customers can call for additional help.
  • Shipping costs will be deducted from all returned items.
  • Any item that is missing accessories, original packaging, or is not returned in the same condition that it was received in, may be subject to a re-stocking fee up to 100% based on the condition we receive it in. 
  • Items broken, damaged, or inoperable due to installer error will not be refunded.
