Hayward RCX40117 Drive Pin Assembly (For Drive Motor) — SharkVac / SharkVac XL / TigerShark

The Hayward RCX40117 is an OEM drive pin assembly used on select Hayward robotic pool cleaners. This small but critical part connects the drive motor output to the drive mechanism so the cleaner can move and climb normally. Replace it when the robot runs but won’t drive, slips, clicks, or has inconsistent traction.

Installation Notes

  • Disconnect the cleaner from power before servicing.
  • Access is typically through the drive-side housing near the drive motor output.
  • Inspect surrounding drive parts while you’re in there—worn tracks, bearings, or gears can accelerate pin wear.
  • After replacement, run a short test cycle to confirm smooth drive engagement and normal movement.

Maintenance Tips

  • Rinse the cleaner (especially the drive side and tracks) with fresh water after use to reduce grit wear.
  • If the robot slips or struggles on walls, inspect tracks/brushes and remove any wrapped debris around drive components.
  • Avoid lifting the robot by the cord; store the cord loosely coiled to reduce strain on connectors.
  • If movement issues return quickly after replacement, inspect the drive motor output and internal drive train for wear.

Return Policy:

  • Products that are received damaged will receive a refund in store credit.

  • To initiate a return, please complete an RMA form prior to sending your item back.
  • Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
  • Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
  • Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
  • We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.

  • Opened seals and o-rings are not eligible for return.

  • Automation components and circuit boards are not eligible for return.
  • If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
  • Orders refused at the time of delivery will be subject to the original shipping costs being deducted from the refund.
