When to Replace

Replace the seal plate if the original plate is cracked, warped, leaking, damaged during service, or no longer provides a proper sealing surface for the mechanical shaft seal. A damaged seal plate can cause leaks near the motor side of the pump and may lead to repeat seal failure if not replaced.

Installation Tips

  • Turn off power to the pump at the breaker before servicing.
  • Relieve pressure and close valves before opening the pump wet end.
  • Inspect the mechanical shaft seal, seal plate O-ring, diffuser O-ring, impeller, and impeller screw while the pump is apart.
  • Replace worn seals and O-rings during reassembly to help prevent leaks.
  • Avoid touching the polished faces of the mechanical seal when installing it into the seal plate.
  • Confirm your pump model and parts diagram before ordering replacement parts.

Maintenance Tips

Whenever the pump wet end is opened, inspect all O-rings, seals, hardware, and plastic components before reassembly. Replacing worn sealing parts during the same repair can help prevent leaks, priming issues, and repeat disassembly. Use only pool-safe silicone lubricant on O-rings and avoid petroleum-based lubricants.

  • Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
  • Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.

  • If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
  • Orders refused at the time of delivery will be subject to the original shipping costs being deducted from the refund.
