If the housing is damaged, it’s essential to replace it — continuing to run a cracked volute can damage the motor and waste water.

Which SuperFlo Volute Do You Need?

This volute is designed specifically for variable-speed SuperFlo VS pumps. It includes the pump housing only.

Pentair SuperFlo Volute Assembly (353110)
A complete wet-end assembly for SuperFlo pumps. It comes with the housing, strainer basket, lid, o-rings, and drain plugs — perfect if you want to rebuild the whole front end of the pump.

Pentair SuperFlo Volute (350089)
The standard replacement housing for SuperFlo pumps (excluding variable-speed models). Ideal if you only need the housing and nothing else.

Common Questions About SuperFlo Volutes

How can I tell if my volute needs to be replaced?

If you see water leaking from the pump body, or if you notice a visible crack in the housing, it’s time to replace it. Sometimes you’ll also notice the basket doesn’t sit correctly because of a warped housing.

Are the SuperFlo and WhisperFlo volutes the same?

No — they are two separate pumps with different designs. A WhisperFlo volute will not fit on a SuperFlo, and vice versa.

Do I need the full assembly or just the housing?

If everything else (lid, basket, seals) is in good shape, you can simply replace the housing. But if you’ve lost parts or want to refresh the whole wet end, the assembly kit (353110) is a good choice.

Can I replace it myself?

If you’re comfortable with basic hand tools and pool equipment, replacing the volute is a fairly straightforward job. Just make sure to turn off power to the pump and relieve system pressure before starting.

What else should I replace when changing the volute?

It’s smart to replace the housing o-ring and inspect the diffuser and shaft seal while you have the pump open.

Will a new volute stop a leak?

If the leak is coming from a crack or damaged housing, then yes. But if the leak is at the motor shaft, you’ll also need to replace the shaft seal.
