Pentair Rainbow Old Style Optional Check Valve | R172020

The Pentair Rainbow R172020 is an “old style” optional check valve used in select Pentair/Rainbow automatic chemical feeder and accessory plumbing. This one-way valve helps prevent backflow in the small feeder tubing line, protecting equipment and helping maintain more stable chlorine/bromine feed performance.

What This Part Does

  • Prevents reverse flow (backflow) in the feeder/indicator tubing line when the pump shuts off or pressure changes.
  • Helps protect equipment by reducing the chance of concentrated sanitizer water migrating the wrong direction.
  • Supports consistent dosing by keeping the feeder line operating in the intended direction.

Installation Notes

  • Shut off the pump and relieve pressure before servicing any feeder tubing.
  • Install with the correct flow direction (one-way operation). Installing backwards can block proper flow.
  • Cut tubing cleanly and square; fully seat tubing in the fitting before tightening compression nuts or clamps.
  • After restart, inspect for leaks and confirm normal feeder/indicator operation.

  • If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
