Pentair R36009 Vac-Mate Debris Basket (Skimmer Basket) – For Rainbow / Vac-Mate Multifunction Vacuum Skimmer

The Pentair R36009 is the replacement debris basket used in the Pentair Vac-Mate / Rainbow multifunction vacuum skimmer attachment (commonly referenced as model 211100 / R211100). This basket catches leaves, twigs, and larger debris before it enters your plumbing, helping protect the pump and maintain stronger, more consistent vacuum flow during manual vacuuming.

Key Details

  • Part Number: R36009
  • Part Type: Vac-Mate debris basket (basket only)
  • Color: White
  • Application: Pentair/Rainbow Vac-Mate multifunction vacuum skimmer attachment (211100 / R211100)
  • Bottom Feature: Hole in bottom for thumb-bolt style retention (common Vac-Mate design)

Approximate Dimensions (Helpful for Fit Checks)

  • Top Outside Diameter: 8-7/16"
  • Top Inside Diameter: 7-1/2"
  • Basket Height: 5-3/16"

Common Reasons to Replace

  • Basket is cracked, warped, or won’t seat correctly
  • Debris bypassing the basket due to broken ribs or damaged rim
  • Reduced flow caused by a deformed basket that restricts water movement
  • Missing basket (protects the system from large debris during vacuuming)

Installation Notes

  • Turn off the pump before opening the skimmer/Vac-Mate assembly.
  • Remove the old basket and rinse out the housing before installing the new basket.
  • If the basket doesn’t seal/seat firmly, inspect the basket gasket and the housing sealing surfaces.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Empty and rinse the basket frequently while vacuuming heavy leaf loads to keep suction strong.
  • Check the basket rim and gasket area for grit—sand can prevent a good seal and reduce flow.
  • If vacuum suction is weak, confirm the basket is seated properly and inspect the gasket for flattening or cracks.
  • Do not run the system with a missing or broken basket—large debris can reach the pump basket and restrict flow.
