Pentair 190059Z Rear-Mount Pressure Gauge with Clean/Dirty Indicator (0–60 PSI)

The Pentair 190059Z is an OEM rear-mount pressure gauge used on many Pentair and Sta-Rite pool filter systems and select Hi-Flow multiport valves. It features an easy-to-read 0–60 PSI scale and a clean/dirty indicator ring so you can quickly mark your “clean starting pressure” and know when it’s time to backwash or clean the filter.

Key Features

  • Range: 0–60 PSI
  • Mount: Rear/back mount (threads on the back of the gauge)
  • Indicator: Adjustable “clean/dirty” marker ring to set your baseline pressure
  • Use: Monitors filter/valve operating pressure to help schedule cleaning and diagnose flow restrictions

Common Compatibility (Verify by Model / Parts Diagram)

  • Pentair Sand Dollar sand filters
  • Pentair Tagelus sand filters
  • Pentair Triton II sand filters
  • Pentair Meteor sand filters (including select top-mount configurations)
  • Pentair FNS / FNS Plus D.E. filters
  • Pentair Nautilus / Nautilus Plus D.E. filters
  • Pentair / Sta-Rite SM & SMBW 2000/4000 series filters (select models)
  • Pentair Star / Star Polymeric filters (select models)
  • Sta-Rite Cristal-Flo II high-rate sand filters (select models)
  • Select Hi-Flow multiport valves that use a rear-mount gauge port

Pressure gauge ports can vary by generation and valve/filter body. Confirm the gauge style (rear mount) and thread type on your existing gauge and parts diagram before ordering.

How to Use the Indicator Ring

  • After cleaning/backwashing, run the system and note the stable reading.
  • Rotate the indicator ring to mark that reading as your clean baseline.
  • Clean/backwash again when pressure rises about 8–10 PSI above your baseline (or per your equipment manual).

Installation Notes

  • Shut off the pump and relieve all pressure before removing the old gauge.
  • Inspect the gauge port and sealing surface; clean away debris/scale.
  • Use an appropriate thread sealant for pool equipment (avoid over-applying so it doesn’t enter the plumbing path).
  • Tighten snugly—do not over-tighten, which can crack plastic ports.
  • Verify there are no leaks after restart and that the needle moves smoothly with pump operation.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Reads 0 all the time: Gauge may be clogged, failed, or installed in a blocked port.
  • Needle jumps/shakes: Air in the system, pump cavitation, or a failing gauge mechanism.
  • High pressure: Dirty filter, closed/partially closed valves, return restriction, or clogged plumbing.
  • Low pressure: Suction-side air leak, clogged pump basket/impeller, or pump performance issue.

Maintenance Tips

  • Record your clean starting pressure each season—pressure trends can reveal developing restrictions.
  • If the gauge face fogs, sticks, or reads inconsistently, replace it to avoid misleading service decisions.
  • Always bleed air from the filter after service to stabilize pressure readings.
  • Protect equipment from freezing—ice expansion can crack ports and damage gauges.
