Hayward SPX0740BA Key, Cover & Handle Assembly (Selecta-Flo / Vari-Flo Multiport Valve)
The Hayward SPX0740BA is a complete key/cover/handle assembly used on select Hayward 2" Selecta-Flo / Vari-Flo multiport valves. This is the top “lid” assembly that restores smooth handle operation and helps stop leaks caused by worn seals or a damaged cover assembly.
Fits / Compatibility
- Designed for Hayward 2" Selecta-Flo multiport valve assemblies such as SP0740DE (2" SKT).
- Commonly found on in-ground sand filter systems and multiport valve plumbing where a 2" Selecta-Flo/Vari-Flo valve is used.
- If you are unsure, confirm your valve model number from the label on the valve body (not just the filter model).

Note: Cover screws/bolts are typically not included (reuse existing hardware if it’s in good condition).
What It Fixes
- Water leaking from the top of the valve
- Hard-to-turn or “sloppy” handle movement
- Worn internal gasket causing bypassing between positions (Filter / Backwash / Waste, etc.)
- Cracked cover or broken handle
Installation Notes
- Turn off power to the pump at the breaker before servicing any valve.
- Relieve filter pressure at the air relief before removing the cover.
- Mark the valve position and plumbing ports to keep orientation correct during reassembly.
- Tighten cover screws evenly in a crisscross pattern to help prevent leaks.

Maintenance Tips
- Never change multiport valve positions while the pump is running—always shut the pump off first.
- Keep the cover O-ring lightly lubricated with a silicone-based pool lube to reduce pinching and leaks.
- If the handle becomes difficult to turn, inspect for debris inside the valve and verify screws are evenly tightened.
- After installation, run the system and check for drips around the lid and at the valve ports.

Return Policy:
- Products that are received damaged will receive a refund in store credit.
- Most products are eligible for return within 30 days of receipt, except where noted below.
- To initiate a return, please complete an RMA form prior to sending your item back.
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
- Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
- Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
- We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.

- If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
- Orders refused at the time of delivery will be subject to the original shipping costs being deducted from the refund.
