Compatibility Notice: Not every Hayward H-Series heater uses the same flange seals. Verify the heater model, production series, and original O-ring part number before ordering. These O-rings should not be assumed compatible with newer Universal H-Series FD heaters.
What Do Heater Flange O-Rings Do?
The flange O-rings provide a watertight seal at the heater's inlet and outlet plumbing connections. When the union nuts are properly secured, the O-rings seal the connection between the flange pipe nipples and the heater header.
Over time, exposure to heat, water chemistry, and normal operating conditions can cause the original O-rings to lose flexibility or become compressed. Replacing deteriorated seals helps prevent water leaks and maintain proper plumbing connections.
When to Replace Your Heater O-Rings
- Water leaking around the heater inlet or outlet unions
- Original O-rings are cracked or brittle
- O-rings have become flattened or permanently compressed
- Seals are twisted, stretched, or physically damaged
- Heater plumbing connections have been disassembled for repair

Installation Instructions
- Turn off the pool heater and circulation pump.
- Disconnect electrical power and allow the heater to cool completely.
- Close applicable isolation valves and relieve water pressure from the heater.
- Carefully loosen the heater plumbing union nuts.
- Remove the existing flange O-rings.
- Clean and inspect the flange grooves and mating surfaces.
- Check the flange pipe nipples and union nuts for cracks or other damage.
- Install the new Hayward HAXFOR1930 O-rings in their correct positions.
- Apply a light coating of manufacturer-approved silicone O-ring lubricant if permitted by Hayward's instructions.

Installation and Maintenance Recommendations

Do not use petroleum-based lubricants unless specifically approved for the sealing material. Avoid overtightening plastic union nuts, which can damage the heater plumbing connections.
