How a PVC Fitting Extender Works
A fitting extender provides a new connection point when an existing PVC fitting needs to be extended. The spigot end installs into a compatible female socket, while the socket end accepts a new section of properly sized PVC pipe.
This configuration is particularly helpful when there is insufficient exposed pipe to install a standard coupling or when modifications are needed around existing pool equipment.
Installation Instructions
- Turn off the pool equipment and completely depressurize the plumbing system.
- Verify that the existing PVC fitting has a compatible 2-1/2-inch socket connection.
- Clean and prepare the existing fitting and new extender.
- Dry-fit the components to confirm alignment and adequate insertion depth.
- Apply compatible PVC primer when required by the solvent cement manufacturer and applicable codes.
- Apply PVC solvent cement according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Insert the spigot end into the compatible socket and secure the connection.
- Allow the solvent-welded connection to cure for the recommended time before pressurizing the system.
- Restart the equipment and inspect all connections for leaks.
