JARD 11914 161-193 MFD 125V Round Start Capacitor

The JARD 11914 Start Capacitor is a round motor start capacitor rated 161-193 MFD and 110/125V. This capacitor is commonly used to help provide the extra starting torque needed for compatible single-phase motors, including select pool pump motor and equipment motor applications where the existing capacitor matches these electrical ratings.

This replacement start capacitor is commonly used when a motor hums but does not start, struggles to start, trips out on startup, or has a visibly failed capacitor. Always match the capacitor’s MFD range, voltage rating, case style, and physical size before replacing.

Compatibility

  • Compatible single-phase motors requiring a 161-193 MFD start capacitor
  • Motor applications requiring a 110/125V start capacitor
  • Pool pump motor applications where the original capacitor matches JARD 11914 specifications
  • Replacement applications where the existing capacitor is marked 161-193 MFD, 110/125V, or equivalent

Common Signs This Capacitor May Need Replacement

  • Motor hums but does not start
  • Motor starts slowly or struggles to come up to speed
  • Motor trips the breaker or overload during startup
  • Capacitor case is swollen, cracked, leaking, or burnt
  • Motor starts only when manually assisted
  • Capacitor tests outside the rated MFD range

Important Notes

  • This item is a start capacitor only.
  • This is not a run capacitor. Do not substitute a start capacitor for a run capacitor.
  • Always match the MFD rating and use a voltage rating equal to or greater than the original capacitor rating.
  • Verify the capacitor rating printed on the existing part before ordering.
  • Capacitors can store an electrical charge even after power is disconnected.
  • Motor startup issues can also be caused by a bad start switch, centrifugal switch, relay, wiring, motor bearings, impeller obstruction, or a failing motor.
  • Replacing the capacitor alone may not correct the issue if the motor or start circuit is damaged.

Installation Notes

  • Turn off power at the breaker before servicing the motor or capacitor.
  • Confirm power is off with a proper meter before touching electrical components.
  • Safely discharge the old capacitor before removal.
  • Take a photo of the wiring before disconnecting the old capacitor.
  • Install the replacement capacitor in the same mounting position when possible.
  • Make sure terminals are tight and wiring is secure.
  • Do not use a capacitor with a lower voltage rating than the original.
  • After installation, confirm the motor starts normally and does not overheat or trip out.
  • Electrical repairs should be performed by a qualified technician if you are not comfortable working around charged components.

Maintenance Tips

  • Keep pump motors dry and properly ventilated to help protect electrical components.
  • Inspect capacitors for swelling, cracking, corrosion, or leaking during motor service.
  • Replace capacitors only with the correct rating for the motor.
  • Do not repeatedly force-start a motor that is humming or tripping.
  • Check for pump or motor binding before assuming the capacitor is the only issue.
  • Address water leaks near the motor quickly to help prevent electrical damage.
