The Pentair 230068 (formerly A&A 540269) is a complete retrofit rebuild gear kit for top-feed 6-port in-floor water valves. This kit is designed to upgrade/replace the older internal mechanism used in certain top-feed 6-port valves by converting it to a durable T-valve style drive and gear system for reliable zone indexing.

Fitment Tip: Confirm your valve is a top-feed 6-port design and that the internal mechanism matches the parts shown in this kit. Port count alone is not enough—top-feed and other valve styles use different internal components.
Common Signs You Need This Kit
- Valve no longer indexes through zones
- Zones stick, skip, or rotate inconsistently
- Grinding/clicking noises from the gear area
- Visible wear or missing teeth on internal gears
Installation Notes
- Turn off the pump and relieve pressure before opening the valve.
- Disassemble the top-feed valve and remove worn internal components.
- Clean the valve cavity and seating surfaces (remove debris, scale, and sand).
- Install the new shaft, cam, gear plate, gears, washers, and impeller in the correct orientation.
- Replace the included O-ring and ensure it is seated evenly before reassembly.
- Reassemble and test at low flow first, then verify proper zone indexing under normal operation.
Maintenance Tips
- Keep the filter clean—excess debris and sand accelerate gear and cam wear.
- If you service the valve, rinse internal parts and check gears for worn teeth or binding.
- Use only pool-safe silicone lubricant on O-rings (avoid petroleum-based products).
- Winterize properly to prevent freeze damage to the valve assembly.

Return Policy:
- Products that are received damaged will receive a refund in store credit.
- Most products are eligible for return within 30 days of receipt, except where noted below.
- To initiate a return, please complete an RMA form prior to sending your item back.
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
- Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
- Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
- We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.
- Please complete the return form to receive your RMA number and return shipping label.
- Chemical products are not eligible for return under any circumstances.
- The Pentair Colorsync 618031 is not eligible for return.
- Pool cleaners are not eligible for return.
- Opened seals and o-rings are not eligible for return.
- Capacitors are not eligible for return.
- Plastic popup tools are not eligible for return.
- Automation components and circuit boards are not eligible for return.
- If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
- Orders refused at the time of delivery will be subject to the original shipping costs being deducted from the refund.
