Hayward ECX1642A Tank Bolt Set (Stainless Steel) for Perflex® Extended-Cycle D.E. & Select Hayward Sand Filters
The Hayward ECX1642A is an OEM tank/head bolt set used to clamp and secure the tank/head assembly on compatible Hayward filters. If your existing hardware is rusted, stripped, missing, or no longer tightens evenly, replacing the bolt set helps restore a secure, leak-resistant seal and safer filter operation.

What’s Included
- (1) 1/4"-20 hex head bolt (commonly 1-3/4" length)
- (1) hex nut
- (2) flat washers
Note: This SKU is typically sold as one bolt set (one bolt + hardware). Your filter may use multiple bolts around the tank/head—order the quantity needed for your model.
Common Reasons to Replace
- Rust/corrosion on existing hardware
- Stripped threads or rounded hardware
- Uneven clamp tension that contributes to seepage at the tank seal (after verifying the main O-ring is good)
- Missing hardware discovered during service
Installation Notes
- Turn off the pump and relieve filter pressure before loosening any tank hardware.
- Tighten hardware evenly in small increments to help the head seat squarely and avoid pinching the main seal.
- If you’re servicing the tank/head joint, inspect the main tank O-ring and replace it if flattened, stretched, or nicked.
- Do not overtighten—over-torque can crack plastic components or distort seals.

Maintenance Tips
- Always depressurize the filter before opening—never loosen tank hardware under pressure.
- Keep sealing surfaces clean; grit and old D.E. can prevent even seating and cause seepage.
- Lightly lubricate large O-rings with silicone-based pool lubricant to reduce pinching and improve sealing.
- If leaks persist after tightening, inspect the tank/head for warping or cracks and replace worn seals as needed.

Return Policy:
- All products, except as noted below, are eligible for return up to 30 days after receipt of item.
- For returns, an RMA form must be filled out HERE or customers can call for additional help.
- Shipping costs will be deducted from all returned items.
- Any item that is missing accessories, original packaging, or is not returned in the same condition that it was received in, may be subject to a re-stocking fee up to 100% based on the condition we receive it in.
- Items broken, damaged, or inoperable due to installer error will not be refunded.
- Fill out the return form or give us a call to obtain an RMA and return shipping label.

- If a light is returned because it "doesn't work" and it tests fine, the cost to ship and a re-stocking fee will be deducted from the refund.

When accepting the Visa Gift card, you agree that if your order is returned or refunded, this amount will be deducted from the refunded amount. All Visa Gift cards are sent via email in an E-Gift Card format and are non refundable.
