Hayward SP1048AVH Suction Outlet Bumper (Drain Guard) for 8" SP Series Anti-Vortex Main Drain Covers

The Hayward SP1048AVH is an OEM suction outlet bumper (often called a main drain bumper or drain guard) designed to clip over compatible Hayward 8" SP Series anti-vortex (AV) main drain / suction outlet covers. Its primary purpose is to help prevent suction-side automatic cleaners from getting stuck on the main drain cover.

Fits / Compatibility

  • For 8" Hayward SP Series anti-vortex (AV) drain/suction outlet covers (open line)
  • Pool Type: In-Ground
  • Not for VGB-compliant round drain/suction outlet covers (verify your cover style before ordering)

What It Does

  • Creates a raised bumper across the drain cover to help a suction cleaner ride over the drain instead of locking on
  • Reduces cleaner hang-ups that can cause poor coverage or stalled cleaning cycles
  • Helps protect cleaner components from repeated “sticking” events

Installation Notes

  • Typically hooks/snaps into place over the existing compatible drain cover (no special tools required).
  • Confirm your drain cover is the correct 8" SP Series anti-vortex style and is in good condition.
  • If your drain cover is VGB-style or a different diameter, this bumper will not fit correctly.

  • Periodically check the bumper for secure fitment and remove any debris caught around the drain area.
  • If your cleaner still hangs up, inspect the drain cover for damage/warping and verify the cleaner hose length and suction settings.
  • Keep water chemistry balanced to reduce scale buildup around the drain cover and bumper.

  • Orders costing more than  $300 WILL be required to have signature confirmation upon delivery.
  • Handling time is typically only 1 day.   
  • Any item ordered after 1pm Phoenix time, may not ship same-day.

Return Policy:

  • All products, except as noted below, are eligible for return up to 30 days after receipt of item.
  • For returns, an RMA form must be filled out HERE or customers can call for additional help.
  • Shipping costs will be deducted from all returned items.
  • Any item that is missing accessories, original packaging, or is not returned in the same condition that it was received in, may be subject to a re-stocking fee up to 100% based on the condition we receive it in. 
  • Items broken, damaged, or inoperable due to installer error will not be refunded.
  • Fill out the return form or give us a call to obtain an RMA and return shipping label.
  • There are no returns on the Pentair Colorsync 618031
  • No returns on pool cleaners.
  • No returns on opened seals and o-rings.
  • No returns on capacitors.
  • If a light is returned because it "doesn't work" and it tests fine, the cost to ship and a re-stocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
  • All products denied upon arrival at customers house WILL be charged the cost to ship.
  • Visa Gift Card Promotions: Gift cards are sent within 14 days of the order. When accepting the Visa Gift card, you agree that if your order is returned or refunded, this amount will be deducted from the refunded amount. All Visa Gift cards are sent via email in an E-Gift Card format and are non refundable.
