Hayward HL-CHEM Sense & Dispense Chemistry Kit (ORP & pH Sensing + pH Dispense Control) for OmniLogic / OmniHub
The Hayward HL-CHEM is an OEM water chemistry sensing and control kit that adds continuous ORP (sanitizer activity) and pH monitoring to compatible Hayward automation. When paired with a compatible chlorine source and a pH-reduction feed device, the system can automatically maintain more consistent sanitizer activity and pH balance with far less manual adjustment.
What It Does
- Continuously measures ORP and pH from a small sample stream on the return line.
- Displays readings in your automation interface for tracking and troubleshooting.
- Provides control outputs for pH reduction (acid feed pump or solenoid valve) using included power pigtails.
- Works with automation logic to help maintain stable water balance and more consistent sanitation.
Compatibility
- Designed as an accessory for Hayward OmniLogic automation systems.
- Also commonly used with Hayward OmniHub systems where Sense & Dispense chemistry control is supported.
- Requires a compatible sanitation method (such as salt chlorination or another controlled chlorine source) and a pH reduction method.
What’s Included
- ORP probe (professional grade)
- pH probe
- Sampling/installation hardware typically used to mount probes on a sample stream
- pH dispense pigtails: one 120V and one 240V receptacle lead to power/control a pH-reducing device
- Tubing/connectors and mounting hardware used for a standard install (as supplied by the manufacturer)
Important: A chemical feed device (acid pump, solenoid valve, CO2 kit, etc.) is typically not included. You’ll choose the dispense method that matches your installation.
Key Installation Notes
- Install the sensing cell/sample point in the recommended plumbing location with steady flow and easy service access.
- Calibrate probes after installation and any time readings drift.
- Use the correct dispense pigtail voltage (120V or 240V) for your pH reduction device.
- Keep probes wet and protected when removed; dried-out probes can be damaged.
- Professional installation is recommended for electrical and chemical feed integration.
Common Reasons to Add HL-CHEM
- Reduce day-to-day manual testing/adjusting
- More consistent pH control (less scaling/corrosion risk from pH swings)
- Automation-based sanitizer activity tracking using ORP
- Integrated chemistry control through your Hayward automation platform

Maintenance Tips
- Test water manually regularly (especially during seasonal changes) to confirm automation readings stay in sync.
- Clean probes as needed if readings drift (scale/oils can coat the sensing surfaces).
- Recalibrate after cleaning, probe replacement, or major water chemistry changes.
- Keep chemical feed tubing and injection/check valves inspected—small clogs or leaks can cause big pH swings.
- Maintain balanced water chemistry to reduce scale buildup on probes and plumbing.
