Hayward SPX4000TS Strainer Cover T-Seal (T-Ring) for NorthStar Pumps (2003–2007)

Hayward SPX4000TS is a genuine replacement strainer cover T-seal (T-ring) used on Hayward NorthStar pool pumps manufactured in the 2003–2007 range. This seal installs under the clear strainer lid to create an airtight, watertight seal that helps prevent prime loss, air leaks, and water seepage around the pump lid.

Key Features

  • Part Number: SPX4000TS
  • Brand: Hayward
  • Type: Strainer cover T-seal / T-ring (lid seal)
  • Common Alternate Reference: O-510 (often listed as O-510-0)
  • Approx. Dimensions: 7-3/4" x 7-3/4" x 5/16" (typical listing)
  • Helps prevent suction-side air leaks and lid seepage

Common Compatibility (Verify Pump Model & Year)

  • Hayward NorthStar SP4000 series pumps (2003–2007)
  • Hayward NorthStar SP4000X series pumps (2003–2007)
  • Common model references include SP4005(NS), SP4007(NS), SP4010(NS), SP4015(NS), SP4020(NS), SP4030(NS (verify))

Important Fit Note

  • Often listed for NorthStar pumps built 2003–2007.
  • Many references note: pumps built prior to 2003 may use CX400G, and pumps built after 2008 may use SPX4000S. Always confirm by model/year or parts diagram before ordering.

Common Symptoms This Seal Can Fix

  • Air bubbles visible in the pump basket
  • Prime loss after the pump shuts off
  • Water weeping around the strainer lid
  • Flattened, cracked, sticky, or stretched lid seal

Installation Notes

  • Turn off power to the pump before opening the lid.
  • Clean the lid sealing surface and groove thoroughly (remove sand/grit).
  • Install the new T-seal evenly without twisting.
  • Use a light coat of pool-safe silicone lubricant to improve sealing and reduce pinching.
  • Restart and check for air leaks and seepage.

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean and lightly lubricate lid seals during seasonal service to reduce drying and cracking.
  • Keep the lid and sealing surfaces free of sand and debris—this is a common cause of suction air leaks.
  • If air leaks continue after replacement, inspect the lid and housing for cracks or warped sealing surfaces.
  • Do not overtighten the lid; tighten evenly to a firm seal.
