When to Replace Your T-Valve Internal Components

Over time, the internal gears, cam, and rotating components of an in-floor cleaning water valve can experience wear or damage. Common symptoms include:

• Cleaning zones failing to rotate or advance
• Water continuously flowing to the same cleaning zone
• Valve cycling inconsistently or becoming stuck
• Reduced cleaning performance caused by improper water distribution
• Worn or damaged internal gears

These symptoms can also result from inadequate water flow, dirty filters, or damage to other valve components. Inspect the complete valve assembly before replacing the internal mechanism.

Installation and Maintenance

1. Turn off the pool pump and disconnect electrical power.
2. Completely relieve pressure from the in-floor cleaning system.
3. Remove the low-profile valve clamp and lid according to Pentair's instructions.
4. Carefully remove the existing internal gear assembly.
5. Inspect the valve housing, lid, T-valves, and internal sealing surfaces.
6. Clean accumulated debris from inside the valve housing.
7. Install the replacement impeller, gear plate, shaft, cam, washers, and O-ring according to the manufacturer's assembly instructions.
8. Confirm all internal components are correctly aligned.
9. Inspect the valve lid O-ring and stainless steel band clamp before reassembly.
10. Reassemble the valve and secure the clamp according to Pentair's instructions.
11. Restart the pool system and verify proper water distribution and cleaning zone rotation.
