When to Replace Your Pump Strainer Lid
A damaged pump strainer cover can allow air to enter the suction side of the pump, potentially causing priming problems, reduced circulation, and inconsistent operation. Common signs that a replacement lid may be necessary include:
- Visible cracks or damage to the lid
- Air bubbles entering the pump strainer housing
- Difficulty maintaining pump prime
- Damage or distortion around the lid sealing surface
- Worn or damaged lid threads
- Water leakage around the strainer cover when the pump is off
Installation and Maintenance
- Turn off the pool pump and disconnect electrical power before servicing.
- Relieve system pressure and follow the pump manufacturer's shutdown procedures.
- Remove the existing strainer cover and inspect the lid O-ring.
- Clean the sealing surfaces and remove any dirt, debris, or accumulated residue.
- Replace the lid O-ring if it is cracked, flattened, stretched, or damaged.
- Apply a light coating of pool-safe, non-petroleum silicone lubricant to the O-ring if recommended by the manufacturer.
- Install the replacement strainer lid and tighten according to Pentair's instructions.
- Restart the pump and inspect for air leaks and proper priming.

Return Policy:
- Products that are received damaged will receive a refund in store credit.
- Most products are eligible for return within 30 days of receipt, except where noted below.
- To initiate a return, please complete an RMA form prior to sending your item back.
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
- Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
- Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
- We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.
