The Waterway 805-0226 is a replacement O-ring used to seal many Waterway 1-1/2" union and tailpiece connections found on pool and spa plumbing. Replacing a worn union O-ring helps stop drips at the union, prevents suction-side air leaks, and restores a reliable seal after routine service.

What This O-Ring Does
- Seals the union faces to prevent water leaks under pressure.
- Helps prevent suction-side air intrusion that can cause bubbles in the pump basket, noise, or priming issues.
- Maintains a service-friendly connection so equipment can be removed without cutting plumbing.
When to Replace
- Dripping or weeping at the union connection
- Flattened, cracked, swollen, or nicked rubber
- Union must be overtightened to stop a leak
- Union was opened for service and the old seal no longer reseals reliably
Installation Notes
- Turn the pump off and relieve system pressure before opening the union.
- Remove the old O-ring and clean both sealing faces and the O-ring groove (remove grit, scale, and old residue).
- Seat the new O-ring evenly in the groove—do not twist or stretch it excessively.
- Lightly lubricate with pool-safe silicone lubricant (avoid petroleum-based products).
- Hand-tighten the union nut snugly; overtightening can distort the seal and cause leaks.
- Restart the system and recheck for seepage once full flow/pressure is restored.
Maintenance Tip
Many union leaks are caused by debris or minor damage on the union faces rather than the O-ring itself. If a new O-ring still seeps, inspect the union nut and tailpiece for hairline cracks and confirm the mating faces are smooth and aligned without pipe stress.

Return Policy:

- Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
- Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
- Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
- We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.

- If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
