U.S. Seal PS-3867 Pump Shaft Seal – 5/8" (Viton, Ozone/Salt Service Upgrade)
The U.S. Seal PS-3867 is a heavy-duty mechanical pump shaft seal for pumps that use a 5/8" motor shaft. This version is commonly selected for saltwater and ozone pool/spa systems because it uses Viton elastomers for improved chemical resistance compared to standard seals.

Signs You Need a New Shaft Seal
- Water leaking from the pump “weep area” or between the motor and seal plate
- Rust staining or calcium deposits under the pump/motor junction
- Motor bearing noise after a period of leaking (seal failure can damage bearings)
Installation Notes
- Always disconnect power before servicing the pump.
- Do not touch polished seal faces with bare fingers; oils can cause premature leaks.
- Press the ceramic seat in squarely and evenly; keep the sealing surface clean.
- Inspect the seal plate, impeller hub, and mating surfaces for grooves, cracks, or warping.

Maintenance Tips
- Fix suction-side air leaks early—running a pump with air in the system can shorten seal life.
- Keep water chemistry balanced; extreme pH and high calcium can accelerate seal wear and scaling.
- If the pump has leaked for a while, check motor bearings—replacing the seal alone may not solve noise/vibration issues.
- For winterizing, drain the pump and protect the wet end from freezing to prevent cracks and seal misalignment.

Return Policy:
- Products that are received damaged will receive a refund in store credit.
- Most products are eligible for return within 30 days of receipt, except where noted below.
- To initiate a return, please complete an RMA form prior to sending your item back.
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
- Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
- Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
- We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.
- Please complete the return form to receive your RMA number and return shipping label.
- Chemical products are not eligible for return under any circumstances.

- Pool cleaners are not eligible for return.
- Opened seals and o-rings are not eligible for return.
- Capacitors are not eligible for return.

- Automation components and circuit boards are not eligible for return.
- If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
- Orders refused at the time of delivery will be subject to the original shipping costs being deducted from the refund.
