Taylor R-0005-C-12 Acid Demand Reagent #5 – 2 oz Dropper Bottles (Case of 12)

The Taylor R-0005-C-12 is a case pack of Acid Demand Reagent #5 used with Taylor comparator test kits to estimate how much acid is needed to lower pH to the desired range. It’s commonly used with Taylor color comparator blocks that include an acid/base demand scale, making it especially useful for service routes, commercial pools, and high-volume testing.

Key Features

  • Acid demand reagent used to determine how much acid is required to lower pH
  • Helps make pH adjustments more controlled and repeatable
  • 2 oz (60 mL) dropper bottles for easy dispensing
  • Case of 12 – ideal for pool pros, retail inventory, or frequent testers
  • Compatible with many Taylor kits that use the acid demand comparator scale

What It’s Used For

  • Acid Demand Test: Estimates the amount of acid needed to lower pH to the recommended range.
  • Common when managing high pH, high aeration environments, new plaster startups, and pools with frequent pH rise.

How to Use (General Overview)

  • Test pH using your Taylor comparator (phenol red pH test) per kit instructions.
  • If pH is above your target range, add R-0005 drop-by-drop to the comparator cell, mixing between drops, until the color matches the desired pH on the comparator scale.
  • Use your kit’s demand chart to convert the number of drops into the recommended amount of acid for your pool volume.
  • Add chemicals in portions, circulate thoroughly, and re-test before making additional adjustments.

Compatibility Notes

  • Designed for Taylor comparators/kits that include an acid demand scale.
  • This is a case pack of 2 oz bottles—if you only need a single bottle, search by “R-0005”.
  • Follow your kit instructions and demand chart; drop counts and dose conversions vary by comparator and sample size.
