Polaris P15 Booster Pump Impeller – For Polaris PB4-60 / PB4-60Q (Old Style, Pre-12/2011)

The Polaris P15 is a replacement impeller for the older style Polaris PB4-60 and PB4-60Q pool cleaner booster pumps. This is the pump’s primary moving water component that creates pressure for pressure-side cleaners. Replace the impeller when performance drops, the pump becomes noisy, or the impeller is worn or damaged.

Key Features

  • Part Number: P15
  • Part Type: Booster pump impeller
  • Application: Polaris PB4-60 / PB4-60Q booster pumps (older style)
  • Typical Pump HP: 3/4 HP booster pump applications (verify your pump label/model)
  • Function: Restores pressure and flow for pressure-side pool cleaners

Compatibility Notes

  • Old style only: Commonly specified for PB4-60 booster pumps manufactured before Dec 2011 (often identified as serial number M12011001 and earlier, depending on pump labeling).
  • If your PB4-60 has a newer-style wet end/impeller design, you may need a different impeller. Always confirm using your pump’s parts breakdown.

Common Signs You Need a New Impeller

  • Cleaner has weak drive or poor wall climbing due to reduced pressure
  • Booster pump runs but output pressure is lower than normal
  • Grinding, rattling, or unusual noise from the pump wet end
  • Impeller is cracked, broken, or heavily worn from debris ingestion
  • Repeated seal leaks caused by damage in the wet end (inspect shaft seal and diffuser/volute)

Installation Notes

  • Shut off power at the breaker and close valves (if present) before opening the pump.
  • Disassemble the wet end and inspect the diffuser/volute for wear or warping that could affect performance.
  • If you’re replacing the impeller, it’s smart to inspect/replace the shaft seal at the same time to prevent leaks.
  • After reassembly, prime as needed and check for leaks, vibration, and normal pressure output.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

  • Keep the pump basket clean and ensure the cleaner line screen/filter is installed to reduce debris damage to the impeller.
  • If the booster pump is noisy, verify the motor bearings and confirm the impeller is not rubbing the diffuser.
  • Maintain proper system flow to the booster pump—restricted supply water can cause cavitation and shorten impeller life.
  • Winterize properly (drain the pump) to prevent freeze damage that can crack the wet end and lead to impeller issues.
