Pentair 150042 Air Relief Tube (Black) for Triton II TR140 / TR140C (After 11/01/1999)

The Pentair 150042 is an OEM air relief tube used on select Pentair/PacFab Triton II sand filters. This internal tube routes trapped air to the filter’s air relief/bleed point so the tank can purge air during startup and after service. Replacing a cracked, brittle, or missing air relief tube helps restore proper venting, more stable pressure readings, and smoother priming.

Common Compatibility (Verify by Model & Build Date)

  • Pentair/PacFab Triton II sand filter: TR140 (manufactured after 11/01/1999)
  • Pentair Triton Commercial sand filters: TR140C (manufactured after 11/01/1999)
  • Also commonly listed for TR100 and select commercial variants depending on configuration (confirm by parts diagram)

Important: Triton/Triton II internals vary by production version. Match your filter model and the “after 11/01/1999” application note before ordering.

Specifications

  • Part number: 150042
  • Material: Black plastic
  • Approx. size: 29" length
  • Tubing size: 1/4" ID x 3/8" OD
  • Function: Internal air-vent routing for the filter air relief system

Common Symptoms of a Failed Air Relief Tube

  • Air won’t purge properly from the filter after cleaning or start-up
  • Persistent air in the tank (burping/foaming at returns) after priming is confirmed
  • Unstable or inaccurate pressure readings caused by trapped air
  • Visible cracks, brittleness, kinks, or a tube that won’t stay seated

Installation Notes

  • Turn off the pump and relieve all filter pressure at the air relief before opening the tank.
  • Remove the old tube and clean any debris or scale from the air relief passages and seating points.
  • Install the new tube in the same routing/orientation as the original to prevent kinks and ensure proper venting.
  • Reassemble, restart the system, then bleed air until a steady stream of water is present.

Maintenance Tips

  • After any filter service, bleed air slowly until water runs steady—this helps prevent pressure spikes and erratic readings.
  • If you repeatedly trap air, inspect the pump lid O-ring, drain plugs, and suction-side unions for air leaks.
  • Keep the air relief path clean—scale and debris can restrict venting and shorten component life.
  • Record your clean starting pressure; service the filter when pressure rises about 8–10 PSI over baseline (or per your filter label).
