Pentair 270068 Valve Top Assembly (Key/Cover Assembly) | Hi-Flow 1-1/2" Multiport Valves
The Pentair 270068 is an OEM replacement valve top (key/cover) assembly for select Pentair/PacFab Hi-Flow 1-1/2" top-mount and side-mount multiport valves. This is the complete upper assembly that contains the handle, diverter/rotor mechanism, and cover—used to restore smooth switching and proper internal port sealing.
Common Compatibility (Verify by Valve Model)
- Hi-Flow 1-1/2" top and side-mount multiport valve models commonly referenced as 261177 and 261173
- Used on select Pentair/PacFab sand and D.E. filter systems that use the Hi-Flow 1-1/2" multiport valve (model/revision dependent)
Always confirm fit by checking your valve model number and parts diagram. Multiport valves can look similar across sizes and generations.

Common Reasons to Replace the Top Assembly
- Handle is hard to turn, binds, or won’t index positively into positions
- Internal bypass/cross-porting (for example, water leaking to waste while on Filter)
- Cracked cover, stripped screws, or damaged internal components from age/UV exposure
- Persistent leaks or poor performance after basic gasket/O-ring service
Installation Notes
- Shut off the pump and relieve all filter pressure before servicing the valve.
- Mark the current valve position and take photos of the assembly before removal.
- Inspect and replace the cover O-ring/spider gasket (as applicable) if worn.
- Tighten screws evenly to avoid warping the cover and causing leaks.
- After servicing, run Rinse briefly after Backwash before returning to Filter.

Maintenance Tips
- Never change multiport positions while the pump is running—this can tear gaskets and damage the diverter.
- If the handle becomes stiff, inspect for sand/debris intrusion instead of forcing it.
- Keep the valve shaded when possible; UV exposure can shorten plastic component life.
- After any valve service, check for slow drips once the system is fully pressurized and warmed up.

Return Policy:
- Products that are received damaged will receive a refund in store credit.
- Most products are eligible for return within 30 days of receipt, except where noted below.
- To initiate a return, please complete an RMA form prior to sending your item back.
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from the return credit.
- Items returned missing accessories or original packaging, or that are not in the same condition as received, may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 100% depending on the condition of the item upon return.
- Some returns will be charged an automatic 15% restocking fee.
- We are unable to issue refunds for items that have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to installer error.
- Please complete the return form to receive your RMA number and return shipping label.
- Chemical products are not eligible for return under any circumstances.
- The Pentair Colorsync 618031 is not eligible for return.
- Pool cleaners are not eligible for return.
- Opened seals and o-rings are not eligible for return.
- Capacitors are not eligible for return.
- Plastic popup tools are not eligible for return.
- Automation components and circuit boards are not eligible for return.
- If a light is returned due to a reported malfunction and is found to be fully operational upon testing, return shipping costs and a restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.
- Orders refused at the time of delivery will be subject to the original shipping costs being deducted from the refund.
