The Pentair Rainbow R172324 is a corrosion-resistant inline check valve designed for use with Pentair Rainbow automatic chlorine/bromine feeders. Installed in the chlorinator/feeder tubing line, it helps prevent backflow of highly chlorinated water into sensitive equipment (such as heaters, pumps, and other components) when the system shuts off or when pressure conditions change.

When to Replace
- Evidence of backflow (chlorinator line draining backward or sanitizer water reversing direction)
- Leaks at the compression fittings or valve body
- Valve sticking, rattling abnormally, or restricting flow due to internal wear/scale
- Cracked housing from age, chemical exposure, or freeze damage
Installation Notes
- Shut off the pump and relieve system pressure before cutting into any tubing.
- Install in the feeder line as shown in the feeder’s installation instructions.
- Confirm flow direction before tightening fittings (installing backwards will block proper flow).
- Cut tubing cleanly and square; uneven cuts can cause poor sealing at compression connections.
- After installation, run the system and inspect carefully for leaks and normal feeder flow.
